Summer 2011
Yes, I know it’s July, but this past weekend was the first time this year that it’s actually felt like summer. And what better way to enjoy it than to go out, soak up some Vitamin D, and do it all in the company of some good friends?
Here are some interesting stories from this weekend:
- Went down to White Rock with Almondy to hang out at the beach, except it was high tide, so we mostly hung out on the pier. Watched some people catch crabs, and bunch of people fishing, including a little 5 year old girl who actually caught 3 fish, and some crazy teenagers jumping off the pier
- Almondy saved a giant moth from drowning by the water, and we put it on a rock so it could dry its wings off. As soon as it was able to fly again, it got up into the air and was attacked by a crow. Twice! I *think* it got away safely…
- Drove to HG’s house in North Van, where we played Sardines in the (almost) complete darkness. Almondy and TheSupporter both managed to avoid being found. During the last game, we packed 6 people into a closet full of clothes
- Had lunch with Almondy at Cactus Club on Broadway. I rarely eat out on patios, so it was nice to be able to enjoy the warm weather and exhaust from passing cars
- Totally just chilled at TheSupporter’s house for the rest of the afternoon; nice and relaxing. At one point we took a walk to buy some cold drinks, which took me back to my childhood days, when I had tons of time and nothing to do, and walking to the corner store in the mid-summer sun would be my excursion for the day.
All in all probably one of my best weekends this year. Only 1 month (or less, with the way Vancouver weather is going) of summer left, and still lots left to do! Here are a few off the top of my head:
- Final Fantasy concert!!!
- Go to Disneyland/LA/San Diego
- Use my speedboating Groupon
- Use my go-karting Groupon
- Summer date!
- Summer camp
- Do the grind at least once
And last but not least, there’s only 1 week left to get a Screamer, so I definitely have to go before they close up shop for the rest of summer!
