Curry and cream puffs
My friend Yoshio flew into town from Japan the other day, and we took him out to dinner in Richmond. One of the reasons we love that place is because they serve awesome katsu curry (pork cutlet with curry on rice); almost as good as what we had in Japan actually, despite it being a Taiwanese restaurant.
Anyway, it came with as small dessert as part of the set - a cream puff (the small ones that come in a tub). Yoshio didn’t know what it was at first, and kept making jokes that I should put it in the curry. Well, at the end of the meal, I still had some curry leftover, so I dipped the cream puff in and…. it was actually pretty good. Warm on the outside and cold on the inside, the taste of the sweet curry lingers in your mouth long enough to melt into the vanilla filling, and then just fades away….
I gotta try it again some time!
