Stressed
I’m pretty sure the schedule in my head wasn’t supposed to have everything land around the same time…. But I always get myself into these situations by saying “yes” to too many things, and even I tried to planned my time in advance (shocking, I know), I’m still feeling the crunch.
So here’s what I need to produce within the next 7 days, loosely in the order of priority:
- Design a programme for a friend’s wedding in August. They asked for a deadline of this Sunday so they’ll have time to get it to the printers;
- Come up with a “What to bring” sheet for our church’s upcoming summer retreat. These need to be distribute on Sunday;
- Finish designing/put together/print the handbook for our summer retreat next Friday. I even recruited some extra help this time, but my young apprentice had a computer meltdown this week, which resulted in a hard drive wipe, so he doesn’t have any software to work with right now;
- Design a certificate for the participants of the Grouse Grind event I organized last week. I really brought this one on myself, but I said I’d do it, so I have to follow through.
Needless to say I’m kinda stressed right now, not to mention nervous about not being able to meet these deadlines; I especially don’t want to compromise my friend’s wedding programme.
I’m used to working under pressure anyway. The problem is, these are all things I don’t want to screw up on (unlike school projects =P), and the stress is making it hard to concentrate, which in turn makes it hard to get into the flow while designing. Yesterday was a lost cause, and it looks like today will be too. Hopefully a good night’s sleep can fix that. Sleep has been in pretty been short supply this week as well.
Random thought: I really miss my MX Revolution mouse. Not to say that the G7 is bad (the hot-swappable battery packs are genius!), but the Revolution just feels better in my hand, and I’ve been spoiled with the free-scrolling scroll wheel. If I see it on sale, I just might be compelled to buy another one.
